Deco Coffee Table, Obsidian
The Deco is the most direct conversation PALENA has with the Art Deco era, and it conducts that conversation without nostalgia, without reproduction, and without apology.
The stepped silhouette of the table is a pure geometric proposition: a raised central tabletop supported by four precisely proportioned column legs, set upon a broad, flat lower platform that extends the footprint of the piece with architectural authority. Every angle is exact. Every proportion is considered. The form does not gesture toward Art Deco, it inhabits it, from a position of complete contemporary confidence.
The entire composition is enveloped in deep, high-polished obsidian piano-lacquer, a finish so reflective that the table’s sharp lines and smooth planes become a continuous play of profound shadow and crisp highlight, shifting as the light around them changes throughout the day. Running across both the upper tabletop and the lower platform, a network of hand-inlaid gold bronze lines traces the geometry of the piece with hairline precision, a detail of extraordinary refinement that rewards close inspection and illuminates the architectural logic of the whole.
