Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Palena Studio uses on palenastudio.com, and how you can manage them. It supplements our Privacy Policy. We use cookies sparingly. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell data to advertisers or data brokers.
2. Our position on cookies
We take a conservative approach to cookies. We use only those that are either strictly necessary for the website to function or that genuinely improve your experience — and we use as few as possible.
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not serve targeted advertisements. We do not share your browsing behaviour with advertising networks, social media platforms, or data brokers. We do not engage in retargeting or cross-site tracking of any kind.
We believe this approach is consistent with both our clients’ expectations of discretion and our own values as a studio that does not treat people as data points.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to operate. Without them, core functionality — including navigation, the enquiry form, WooCommerce sessions, and security features — would not work. They cannot be disabled without breaking the website.
Strictly necessary cookies do not track you for marketing purposes and do not collect information used for advertising.
5. Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website by collecting aggregated, anonymised information — such as which pages are visited most frequently, how long visitors spend on each page, and whether visitors encounter errors. We use this data to improve the website over time.
We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, which means your full IP address is never stored. The data collected by analytics cookies is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Analytics cookies are optional. They are placed only where you have given consent.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google’s data processing practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Functional cookies
Functional cookies enable the website to remember choices you have made to provide a more personalised experience. They do not track your behaviour across other websites and do not collect information for advertising. Disabling them may affect some non-essential features of the website.
7. Advertising cookies — our position
We do not use advertising cookies of any kind.
We do not place retargeting pixels. We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing tags, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any equivalent technology that tracks your behaviour across websites for advertising purposes. We do not participate in any real-time bidding (RTB) advertising ecosystem.
You will not see Palena Studio advertisements following you across the internet as a result of visiting our website. We consider this consistent with the level of discretion our clients expect from us.
If you encounter what appears to be a Palena Studio advertisement on a third-party platform, this is not the result of cookies placed on your device by us. It may be the result of that platform’s own interest-based audience tools, which operate independently of our website.
8. Third-party services
Some features of our website involve third-party services that may set their own cookies independently of our control. These cookies are governed by the respective third party’s own privacy and cookie policies:
We periodically review the third-party services we use and aim to minimise the number of third-party cookies placed on your device. Where we have a choice between a privacy-preserving and a data-intensive option, we choose the former.
9. Your choices and how to manage cookies
9.1 Cookie consent banner
When you first visit palenastudio.com, a cookie consent banner will give you the option to accept or decline non-essential cookies (analytics and functional). Strictly necessary cookies cannot be declined as they are required for the website to function. Your preference is stored in the palena_cookie_consent cookie and will be respected on subsequent visits.
You can change your preference at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer of this website.
9.2 Browser-level cookie control
All major web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically choose to refuse all cookies, accept only certain categories, or be notified before a cookie is set. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will impair your ability to use the website.
9.3 Opting out of Google Analytics
To prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits across all websites (not just ours), you can install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available for all major browsers.
9.4 Device-level controls
On mobile devices, both iOS and Android offer system-level privacy settings that limit certain tracking behaviours across apps and browsers. These can be found in your device’s Privacy or Settings menu.
10. Do Not Track
Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal to websites indicating that you prefer not to be tracked. There is currently no universal standard for how websites should respond to this signal, and we do not currently alter our data collection practices in response to DNT signals.
However, as described above, we do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking tools regardless of DNT status. Our analytics are anonymised and our functional cookies do not track behaviour across websites. We consider our default practices to be consistent with the spirit of the DNT request.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our use of cookies evolves, or in response to legal or technical developments. The version number and date of the most recent revision are shown at the top of this page.
Where changes materially affect how cookies are used or your available choices, we will provide notice on our website and, where appropriate, seek your consent again. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
