Block Console

The Block Console is built around a single architectural illusion, a heavy, dark volume that appears to float free of the floor entirely.

The upper body is enveloped in deep obsidian piano-lacquer, its mirror-dark surface housing three seamlessly integrated drawers with slim bronze pull handles. The volume is dense, substantial and completely resolved. Yet it rests on no visible support, suspended instead on a transparent architectural plexiglass base that disappears against the floor, creating the impression of a mass held in suspension by nothing at all.

The patina bronze frame that surrounds the composition grounds the illusion with warm, earthy permanence, making the weightlessness of the body above all the more striking by contrast.
