Balteus Sofa

The Balteus is a sofa of considerable presence, wide, low and deeply grounded, with the architectural confidence of a piece that has decided exactly where it belongs.

The exterior frame is crafted from rare Ebony veneer, its striking, deeply contrasting grain wrapping the structure with a dark, organic richness that commands attention. A single horizontal band of high-polished bronze traces the base of the frame with precise, luminous restraint, a hairline of gold against the darkness of the wood that rewards the eye without interrupting the composition.

The wide, flat armrests extend the architectural footprint of the piece generously, their surface as considered as any element of the design. Within, the seating is deeply cushioned in rich silk velvet, its warm, tactile depth a striking and confident counterpoint to the darkness of the ebony frame.

Craftsmanship & Making

Every piece is entirely handcrafted by a select group of skilled artisans. The Ebony veneer is meticulously hand-matched and applied to the frame, with its grain direction and pattern carefully considered across every surface. The polished bronze base detail is expertly hand-finished separately before assembly. Works ordered as a set are made and finished together, by the same hands, so they sit as one.

Every Palena piece is made to order. Your dedicated contact will confirm a precise timeline at the point of enquiry.
