Mutu Console, Polished Bronze

The Mutu is conceived as a study in arrested movement, the precise instant a flowing form reaches its most resolved and beautiful position, held permanently in high-polished bronze.

The base is cast as a continuous composition of organic, rounded forms that press against each other with the fluid energy of water moving through stone. Each convex surface catches ambient light with a warm golden brilliance, the deep voids between forms creating pools of shadow that give the piece its extraordinary three-dimensional depth. The bronze does not simply support the tabletop, it performs beneath it.

Above, a horizontal expanse of obsidian piano-lacquer rests in absolute stillness, its mirror surface the complete counterpoint to the organic energy below.

Craftsmanship

Every piece is produced entirely by hand by a small number of skilled craftspeople. The [frame / casting / glass] is finished by hand in multiple stages.
