Oculus, Patina Bronze
The Oculus takes its name from the circular void at the heart of its base, that deliberate opening through which light passes, shadow pools, and the eye is drawn inward before it rests on anything else.
The dual pedestal base is composed of sweeping geometric planes forged in raw patina bronze, their matte, light-absorbing surfaces carrying the depth and quiet authority of aged metal. The oculus void at the centre of each pedestal is not an absence, it is the defining element of the composition, the architectural decision around which everything else is organised. Light settles differently into each face of the base depending on the hour, making this a piece whose character deepens across the day.
Above this robust sculptural foundation rests a spectacular expanse of Nero Portoro marble. Its deep black ground is traversed by sweeping, chaotic veins of gold and white that move across the surface with the untamed energy of something entirely beyond human control. The vintage warmth of the patina bronze and the theatrical drama of the marble share an ancient register, two materials of profound geological heritage, resolved into a single surface of extraordinary presence.
